Venue Description
Hill's Tavern During the first pitched battle between British and colonial forces, Hill's Tavern served as a hospital for the Colonial wounded.

Kettle's Tavern

On April 18, a rider from Medford arrived at Kettle's Tavern with the news that the Regulars were out and headed for Concord to destroy the military supplies stored there and to capture Sam Adams and John Hancock. In one hour all seventy-five of Malden's Minutemen (from what is now Malden, Everett and South Melrose) marched to Medford to await orders, and they were ordered to Watertown to intercept the retreating British. When they reached the junction of Lexington and Menotomy Roads, they came across a band of Menotomy (Arlington) men who waylaid a British supply wagon. Joining the battle, they assisted in the first capture of military supplies of the Revolutionary War. Of the seventy-five, the officers were: Capt. Benjamin Blaney, Jr; 1st Lt. Nathan Lyndes; 2nd Lt. William Wait.
